Our mission
Intelligence
without borders.
We accelerate AI for emerging markets and the next billion users. We build the infrastructure, models and products that let them shape AI, not just receive it.
Why we exist
AI will shape the next century. SISU AI exists so emerging markets are not participants in that shift, but architects of it.
The opportunity
The world's youngest continent is coming online.
- ~1.5Bpeople in Africa today
- ~19median age, the youngest of any continent
- ~2.5Bpeople projected by 2050, about a quarter of humanity
- 2,000+languages spoken across Africa
Approximate figures, based on UN population estimates and projections and widely cited language counts.
What we believe
Six convictions behind everything we build.
- 01
Built where it's used
AI for emerging markets should be shaped by the people who use it: in their languages, on their devices, for their economies.
- 02
Multilingual by design
Fluency in African languages is part of what general intelligence means. Alkebulan, our Pan-African LLM, is built that way from the start.
- 03
Edge first
Useful AI has to work on modest devices, on the power people have and when the signal drops, including offline and over USSD and SMS.
- 04
Open by default
We open-source most of what we build, in partnership with OpenAI4Africa, so others can learn from it and build on it.
- 05
Responsible from day one
Guardrails, provenance and jurisdiction-aware controls, tuned with community reviewers who can spot a cultural misreading.
- 06
Academia, Government, Industry
We call it the AGI approach: the institutions that shape people's lives working together on how AI reaches them.
One platform
Every layer of the AI stack.
Model aggregation, autonomous agents, agent harness frameworks and scalable inference, with Alkebulan, our Pan-African LLM, at the core.
Six products
Each one its own company.
Vibelane, Altera, Rosanne AI, Pibotix, Vaxus and Dinera each take the platform into a domain that shapes everyday life, and each is built and run as a company in its own right.
Where we're headed
The work ahead.
- Now
Six products, six domains
Mental health, learning, work, robotics, climate and food: six places where AI can lift people up.
- Next
Alkebulan's roadmap
A datasets pipeline and hub, a regulatory toolkit with data-residency controls and Quadrantica+ integration.
- Next
Platform APIs
Model aggregation, agents and inference as APIs. In development, with early access by request.
- Research
Our first paper
On sharing data with no network at all, with OpenAI4Africa and Kalon Edge. In preparation.
Build it with us.
